Our
History and Capabilities
Troy, LLC produces a broad range of quality non-woven synthetic textile products for markets as diverse as automotive, apparel, shoe, filtration and commercial interiors. The main plant and corporate headquarters is located in Harrisville, West Virginia. The business today has an active customer base of several hundred companies and distributors both in the U.S. and abroad. The West Virginia facility occupies 80,000 square feet of manufacturing floor space. This facility houses five needlepunch lines with a width capacity of up to 132 inches and services the automotive and apparel markets. The major operating departments at the facility are blending, die cutting, needling, coating and finishing. In the 1930’s Troy recognized the opportunity to introduce needlepunched non-woven fabric into the automotive industry. The conversion process to that technology has continued to position us at the forefront of our industry. Troy research and development has continued to create non-woven textile fabrics for the apparel, footwear, filtration and commercial interior industries as well. Our processes focus on quality, uniformity and reproducibility and yield the capability to produce a broad range of end products. These versatile processes vary surface textures and pile heights that directly impact the quality and durability of Troy fabrics. Various textures are created to vary the “feel”, “look” and “touch” qualities that distinguish our final products. Each step in the Troy process is designed to add value to the finished product. All of our processes are rigorously and continuously monitored. Our integrated production lines eliminate “in-process” stages and provide for immediate quality feedback. Product diversity is a hallmark of the Troy processes. We offer color matching, synthetic fiber selection and an optimized dyeing process. Custom engineered back coatings are designed and applied for specific applications. These backings impact handling qualities, dimensional stability and safety features such as fire retardation. A lamination process fuses materials together to produce composites with many additional properties such as strength, flexibility, high tensile strength and ease of sewing.
Troy, LLC has been successful because it is responsive to the changing needs of industry. It has invested in people and technology to provide custom solutions and modifications to existing products and processes. Troy offers product variety at economical prices with no compromise in quality. Process Capabilities:

Troy,

Apparel and Furnishings: Fabrics produced by this business unit abound with colors. Warm, comfortable high-pile polyester fleeces find their way into slippers, vests and snuggly cedar-filled pet beds. Troy’s unique random-velour supported fleece provides a denser fabric structure for improved warmth, as well as the structural integrity required for sewn applications. Recycled fibers find new life in our printed lining materials for work jackets and western theme clothing, saddle pads, gun cases, custom luggage and baseball caps. Customers find that needlepunched fabrics are a cost effective alternative to more-expensive knits and wovens, providing performance and features fine-tuned to the application. Industrial and Technical Fabrics: Nonwovens are particularly well suited to the specific needs of a multitude of industries. Troy, LLC produces technical felts, absorbency and shoddy materials using fine and coarse denier polyester, polypropylene and nylon fibers, coupled with a wide variety of support scrims and backings. Base weights range from 4.5 oz./sq. yd. to over 30 based on customer needs. Fabrics can be provided calendared to a specific thickness or surface treated in a number of ways. Troy, LLC can apply a variety of coatings, either topically or through saturation, and can cure and dry these coatings. Let our R&D staff assist you in developing the right product for your application. Automotive: Troy has many years of experience in needlepunch synthetic fabrics sold mainly to the automotive industry. These fabrics are produced in molded, roll goods, and cut-piece form. Product applications include seating trim, luggage compartments, molded door carpets and inserts, package trays and headliners. Troy
has established the technology and experience to service the
many needs of the Tier I and Tier II OEM and aftermarket automotive
industry. Troy is a major producer of carpeting for trunks and trim
for seats. It is capable of producing needlepunch for any interior application.
Needlepunch products presently represent less of the textile applications
in automotive interiors in the United States compared to Europe and
Japan. It is expected that the domestic use of needlepunch products
will increase with expanded applications. |
